  लिव-इन रिलेशनशिप में महिलाओं के खिलाफ हिंसा और कानूनी सुरक्षा 04 Jan 2023 हाल ही में कई मामलों में  लिव-इन रिलेशनशिप  में रहने वाली महिलाओं को भीषण हिंसा का शिकार बनाया गया और उनकी बेरहमी से हत्या कर दी गई। मीडिया द्वारा इसे सनसनीखेज बनाया गया। ' लव जिहाद ' या ' ऑनर किलिंग ' की पितृसत्तात्मक धारणाओं को उकसाते हुए महिलाओं को उनकी पसंद से शादी करने और अंतर-जातीय या अंतर-धार्मिक संबंध रखने के लिए दोषी ठहराया। इस बयानबाजी में जो अनदेखा किया गया वह यह है कि महिलाओं को 'अरेंज्ड मैरिज' सिस्टम में भी हिंसा का सामना करना पड़ रहा है, जैसा कि आईपीसी की धारा 498ए (घरेलू हिंसा कानून), आईपीसी की धारा 304बी (दहेज कानून) और संरक्षण के तहत बढ़ते मामलों से स्पष्ट है। इसके अलावा, कानून और नैतिकता के बारे में बहस में, महिलाओं पर ही परिवार की इज़्ज़त का ज़िम्मा डाल दिया जाता है, जबकि पुरुष को किसी भी प्रकार के दायित्व से अलग रखा जाता है। लिव-इन रिलेशनशिप से जुड़े कई मामलों में अदालतों ने महिलाओं के अधिकारों का विस्तार किया है, फिर भी भ्रम की स्थिति बनी हुई है। मौजूदा स्थिति को ध्य

However, the discourse on domestic violence could not demonstrate the fact that these men are ‘incompetent’ to rule within their homes. Similarly, greedy men and their families who were burning brides or abandoning women to remarry to recollect dowry from other women could not be held accountable for their rapacious criminal acts. Rather, the authority of violent husbands could neither be questioned nor they were held accountable; instead, gruesome reports of wife battering have been suppressed under the garb of ‘protection’ and ‘privacy’.   Seven dimensions of powerlessness in an inegalitarian marital relationship  Domestic violence is basically centered on three key elements: violence, domesticity, and structural inequality, where domesticity contextualizes both spatial location and the relationship between the abused and the victim, and structural inequalities work through the paradigm of power and control.  However, in a patriarchal society, what I construe is that domestic violence is distinguished from all other forms of violence against women because of the ‘ seven dimensions of powerlessness in the relationship’ .
